How to Build a Pro Street Car

By following the requirements of NHRA you can make a street legal racing car. Pro racing cars need exclusive modifications to be made in order to even take part in the competitions, winning will need the car to go through a lot of engine and body modifications. Performance upgrades should be done properly maintaining the criteria proposed by National Hot Rod Association.

Instructions

1. Choose a car that you want to modify and use for street racing purposes. The base car can be from any brand or model as long as the pro street class car weight is within the limits of NHRA. The weight limitation including the driver varies on one single thing and that is the engine block of the car. For small ones the weight limit is 3150 pounds and for big ones it is 3400 pounds. The wheelbase limitation is 130 inch starting from the center of the front wheel and ending at the center of the rear wheel.

2. Mainly muscle cars are used as base cars because of the availability of their parts. There are quite a few safety measurements that you have to take in order to pass your car for street racing. Independent braking system, roll cage, harness for racing and various other features need to be established in your car. Also the driver must at all time wear helmet and necessary clothes to get protection.

3.
Upgrading the car’s performance and engine is a must while making it a pro street car. Swapping engines and adding horsepower enhancer kits to give your car the boost that it needs at the starting point is more than necessary. Changing custom tires with bigger ones is a good way of increasing the grip of the car as well as its speed.

4. Reduction of weight is a vital factor, the basic law of drag racing is as the weight gets lower the horsepower performance increases thus making the car go faster. This policy is maintained by almost all the drivers and deduction of mass of the car is taken into serious consideration. By adding light weight parts and installing performance boosters that are of less weight can be beneficial for both the driver’s safety and the car’s capabilities of travelling at a fast speed.

5. By installing the safety features of NHRS and following the rules and regulations you can certainly get benefitted as their rules are originally created for the safety of the driver’s life.
