How to Add Weight to a Truck
Most of the pickup trucks have increased amount of weight in the front end of the truck rather than in rear. Because of this in winter season you can face difficulties driving as the rear tires might slip and slide. This can cause major road accidents and in order to get rid of this harmful condition you can try adding weight to truck so that the grip of the tires is increased. Various methods can be used to increase the weight of a truck.
Instructions
1. Using sand and salt bags to increase the weight of a pickup truck has been used for many years and it’s a great way of adding weight to the truck. First of all you have to tie with hard rope sand or salt bags to the rear axle of the truck. A fine rope should be used to eradicate any movement of the bags. Then on the truck bed you should put two or more sand and salt bags on both sides to higher the weight amount. Test drive and adjust the weights if needed.
2. Using heavy weight concrete boxes can also gain you a lot of weight for the truck. Concrete blocks are best to use because they can be adjusted without much hassle. Just put the concrete boxes on both sides of the truck bed near the rear axle. To avoid any kind of damage a rubber strap or a wood can be used to keep the concrete blocks in place. Wood should be placed within the holes of the concrete, rubber straps can also be used by attaching the ends to specific point. This will help stop the concretes from going out of place when you hit the brakes. Change concrete size and weight to adjust your vehicles grip capability.
3. Installing a tool box at the rear end of the truck bed and fill it up with either tool needed for repair purposes or sand bags. It’s a great way of adding weight to your truck safely as many prefer not to use the concrete boxes because of safety issues.
4. You may also try different things like using puzzle blocks, weight mate and many other elements that add weight to the rear end of your car helping you in establishing a good grip to avoid power slides or slipping. Adequate amount of weight should be used otherwise this may end in damaging the truck itself.
